At Collora LLP, diversity matters. We seek to demonstrate this through our stated commitment and our actions, as well as our strategy and outward reach for greater inclusion in our firm and our profession.
As advocates in the justice system, we are committed to sculpting a firm that reflects the diversity of our society in terms of gender, race, ethnicity and sexual orientation, as well as background, education, training and experience.
Our firm strives to maintain a culture that not only respects the differences among us, but also seeks to incorporate those differences as integral parts of our success. We seek to do this not only because it is right, but because it enables us to better serve our clients with more creative, well-rounded solutions that come from a more diverse team.
Roughly half of our lawyers are women. Furthermore, women have played important roles as managing partner, practice group leaders, or committee chairs in our firm.
A scan of our Attorney Profiles and a visit to our offices also reveals that our lawyers and other professionals come from various ethnic or racial groups and diverse heritages.
In addition, they have been educated at an array of institutions around the country and the world, including, as of 2010: The University of Barcelona; The London School of Economics; Oxford University; and the University of India Law School. They have also received advanced training and education in such diverse subjects as art history, brain science, astronautics, and international relations, as well as the law.
We understand that achieving greater diversity and maintaining it must come from a conscious strategy. That is why the firm has invested time and resources in a strategic action plan with clearly defined goals and metrics. That is also why we have a training program, and a Diversity Committee, which is chaired by the firm’s managing partner and comprised of both attorneys and staff. This committee monitors our diversity progress and drives initiatives in recruiting, retention, mentoring and promotion.
Our Outward Reach
Our firm also has a long-standing commitment to the role of lawyers in the civil rights movement. Almost since our inception, the firm’s lawyers have served on the Boston chapter of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, contributing annual financial support and pro bono services to that cause. In addition, we are among the ranks of Boston’s largest firms in our support of other organizations that promote equal access to justice, participating in programs by Greater Boston Legal Services, the Anti Defamation League, the Boston Bar Foundation and the Women’s Bar Foundation, as well as the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association.
The firm is a member of the Boston Lawyers’ Group as well, which is a coalition of law firms and government agencies dedicated to achieving diversity in the legal profession through job fairs, networking and outreach.
