Tony represents businesses and individuals in criminal and complex civil litigation matters, with a focus on white-collar criminal defense.  In the white-collar arena, Tony's practice covers a wide variety of industries including heath care, pharmaceutical, medical device, and construction.  In addition to his white-collar defense work, clients seek Tony’s counsel in defending high-stakes commercial disputes.

Practice Areas and Experience

Prior to joining Collora in 2012, Tony served for six years as a prosecutor in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.  As a member of the Public Corruption and Special Prosecutions Unit, Tony was involved in a wide variety of investigations, enforcement proceedings and trials involving firearms and controlled substance laws, identity theft, false claims, public corruption and procurement fraud.  At Collora, Tony applies his experience as a federal prosecutor to assist corporations and individuals in connection with internal investigations, government inquiries and related administrative proceedings.  With his background and experience, Tony offers a critical legal perspective to clients facing serious challenges to their businesses or personal liberties. 

Tony began his legal career with Bingham Dana & Gould (now Bingham McCutchen) in Boston.  From 1997 to 2005, Tony was a member of Bingham’s litigation department where he handled a variety of matters including broker-deal arbitrations of customer and employment disputes, complex business litigation, First Amendment cases, criminal defense, and a variety of other litigation matters. 

As a federal prosecutor, Tony was involved in several high-profile trials and investigations, a sampling of which is detailed below.

Sample of Results in Practice*

  • Secured conviction of the former Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and associates after a six-week jury trial on charges of conspiracy, honest services mail and wire fraud, and Hobbs Act extortion under color of official right.
  • Secured conviction of several former managers of regional concrete supplier to the Central Artery/Tunnel project after a three-week jury trial for conspiracy to commit mail fraud and to submit false claims to the government.
  • Achieved several hundred million dollar settlement of claims against corporate project manager of the Central Artery/Tunnel construction project stemming from tunnel leaks and the collapse of a tunnel ceiling panel.
  • Secured conviction of former Army contracting officer after two-week jury trial for conspiracy to impede and impair federal procurement regulations, mail and wire fraud.
  • Secured conviction of former Veteran’s Administration employees after jury trial for conspiracy, identity theft and wire fraud.

About Tony

Prior to law school, Tony served in the United States Marines for four years as an infantry officer.  The highlight of his tour included serving as a Rifle Platoon Commander in Operation Desert Storm, and playing rugby for his infantry battalion while stationed on Okinawa. 

Tony is an avid runner, and enjoys coaching his children's sandlot soccer teams.
